Politics

I am still very much in shocked with last night’s Sarawak election results.  Shocked, sad, confused and like CM – ‘distressed’.

DAP won 6 seats, only a small margin but definitely a very significant result.  Plus, I believe the many BN losses in Kuching areas come as a shock to many people.  No?  Well, it did to me.

I’m not BN or DAP fan.  I’m not even interested in politics.  Lastly, I’m not even AS OLD AS 21 years old, so I can’t vote.  But I like Lily Yong, the ex-representative for N.9 Padungan.  I like seeing her in newspaper, her pleasant behaviour in television and the nice speeches she always made.  More importantly, I have a feeling that this woman is good and passionate in her work as a politician.

That’s why I never expect her to loss, especially not to Keadilan!! Lily Yong is among the first few defeated contestants who came forward and talked to the press.  (I like her attitude!!!  She didn’t hide from the press due to her loss like some contestants.)  She said, “When I received the news, I took it calmly…We can’t blame the people.  I was defeated not because I didn’t do my job; but I’ve done my best and if the people don’t appreciate, leave it.”  She also stated her surprise for her lost.  “I just can’t imagine that PKR, which appeared just at the very last minute can get the people’s support.”  VERY TRUE.  Exactly like what I thought.  And her statements did not contain much bitterness like the other lost contestants.  Instead, her statements show her maturity and wisdom.  Oh, see…I just love Lily Yong.

This year, voting is a bit different since the serial number is not written onto the voting card anymore, unlike last election where most people felt their votes were not secret and can be traced.  Is it possible that this new system is the cause for the lost?  Could this new system possible cause the people ‘dare’ to vote the opposition?  Will the government revert back to their old system in the next election?

Kuching has so many progress and development.  I wonder why the people choose the opposition instead.  What had the government do wrong?

So many questions.  So few certain answers.  That’s why I dislike politics.

I rest my case.
